Carlos Bazan-Canabal, Worldwide Directories

Carlos Bazan-Canabal, the founder of Worldwide Directories, sued Yahoo after a deal to produce print and online telephone directores in Mexico fell through. He just won a $2.7 billion judgment in a Mexican court for breach of contract and other grounds.

He now appears to be taking steps to enforce that judgment in the United States.

He's in San Francisco, having flown in yesterday from Mexico City, and he's now meeting with his lawyers at Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe, a prominent Silicon Valley law firm, in their San Francisco office, according to a check-in he just posted on Path.

In a regulatory filing, Yahoo noted that the judgment was "nonfinal" and that it intends to appeal. The company hasn't otherwise commented on the matter.
