How badly would you miss an ~$80 bill for cable every month if it just disappeared?
It's totally possible (and actually quite easy) to give it up if you swap in some much more affordable substitutions.
We've been cable-free for several years now and don't miss it even a little bit. Here's how to do it for yourself.
We love our Apple TV.
Feed it your Netflix and Hulu login information to get connected and watch whatever's available. It will also bring any videos stored in iTunes to your television, perfect for the avid purchaser of TV shows and movies through the iTunes Store.

AirPlay mirroring rules.
I love using AirPlay to mirror my computer's desktop to my television. HBO GO doesn't support hooking your tablet up to your TV, but there's nothing stopping you from logging in on your computer and mirroring the display to your TV. Video and audio come through perfectly well.
The Roku 2 XS is also great.
This is something of an alternative to the Apple TV. It supports games, standard streaming media like Netflix and Hulu, and even offers its own iOS and Android apps for maximum control.
