Just because an app is meant for one thing doesn't mean it can't be perfectly capable to handle another.

Here are eight interesting ways to get stuff done using an app that's designed for something completely different.

Find your books more easily with Evernote.

Lifehacker explains how to make it a snap to find books on your shelves.

By taking a picture of the bookshelves with the spines facing out, Evernote's OCR capability can read the author and title text. Search for book you want and Evernote will show you where it is on your shelf.

Improve your posture with Lift.

If you want to develop a good habit, Lift is perfectly suited to help you get there.

On our personal iPhone, a reminder from the app goes off at 10 AM every morning that reminds us to keep our backs straight. It's working wonders so far.

Home Inventory

An app called Home Inventory is used to keep track of your home possessions, but a farmer has found that it's perfectly suited for tracking cattle:

"For my needs I have the herd and cow#, purchase date & price, sold date & price or date died.  That way at the end of the year I can run a report (list) of cows that died or were sold for tax purposes not to mention which cow is in which herd so that we can keep track of each cow."
