Boston lived through a night of terror as police chased two individuals believed to be behind Monday's Boston Marathon bombings across the city.

The pair shot and killed an MIT campus police officer and left another transportation police official gravely wounded, according to a Middlesex County DA release.

An shot from the MIT crime scene was posted to Twitter by the school's student newspaper:
Soon after (or before according to other reports) "Suspect 2" allegedly attempted to rob a 7-Eleven, as captured in this image:
Next the suspects apparently hijacked a Mercedes SUV at gunpoint. The driver was held in the car but eventually dropped off unhurt, according to the DA.
But it led to a cross-town police pursuit from Cambridge into Watertown. There was gunfire and explosions, thought to be from improvised explosive devices.
Suspect 1 was killed in the police standoff, though the DA does not specify when this occured.

Hospital officials who treated Suspect 1 suggested he may have been wearing an explosive device, although they would not confirm this.
Suspect 2 managed to escape.
He is now being hunted in a 20-block vicinity in Watertown.
