In an interview on CNBC this morning, Tesla CEO Elon Musk said he left Mark Zuckerberg's political action committee, FWD.us, because the organization became too cynical.
FWD.us is a PAC seeking immigration reform to make it easier for people to earn the right to work in the US.
FWD.us has received a lot of heat recently because it has run ads that support conservative causes like the Keystone pipeline as a way to get politicians on board.
The funding of such conservative ads goes against the ideologies of many of the PAC's backers. A lot of them are Silicon Valley executives and other liberal-minded thinkers. As a result, key members of FWD.us like Musk and David Sacks have withdrawn support.
In short, FWD.us is running ads that support causes on both sides of the political spectrum and to garner favor from as many lawmakers as possible, which Musk and others find "cynical."
